After "Friday's nightmare," Padma Lakshmi, the ex-wife of Salman Rushdie, sends a message of support. 

Salman Rushdie's ex-wife, author and TV broadcaster Padma Lakshmi, 

says he is "coming through" after being stabbed on Friday (12 August). 

Rushdie, who once received a fatwa for his writing, was attacked while performing in western New York on Friday. 

He was taken to the hospital immediately.

 Rushdie is currently receiving serious injury treatment in a hospital. 

However, according to the author's agency, he is making progress toward rehabilitation. 

"Relieved @SalmanRushdie is pulling through after Friday's nightmare," Lakshmi wrote on Twitter.
