RB James White is retiring from the NFL after saying it was a "honour" to represent the New England Patriots.

After eight seasons in the NFL, three-time Super Bowl champion James White announced his retirement on Thursday.

White, who signed a two-year contract extension with the Patriots

in the offseason, is on the team's physically unable to perform list.

Last September, he suffered a hip injury that forced him

to miss the rest of the season and necessitated surgery.

In a social media statement, White said,

"It has been an honour to represent my family, my teammates, and the people of New England as a Patriot!"
