Following the July 28 release of the "Blonde" trailer for the Netflix series, Armas has faced outrage on social media.
"I know the movie hasn't come out yet but Blonde starring Ana de Armas looks stunning..
..and the scenes gives me chills but i know y'all still hear her accent.. like it's STRONG," one Twitter user wrote.
The movie is based on a book written in 2000 by Joyce Carol Oates.
No one younger than 17 is allowed to view the movie because it has an NC-17 rating.
The Cuban actress revealed that perfecting Monroe's accent took her almost a year.
According to Marc Rosen, head of entertainment at ABG, which controls the Marilyn Monroe Estate, Marilyn Monroe is a unique Hollywood and popular culture icon that spans generations and history.
